Jesse R. “JR” Ridener, 72, of Peoria, passed away at 1:27 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Jesse was born in East St. Louis on December 8, 1937, a son of Jesse and Dorothy (Williams) Ridener. They preceded him in death, along with one brother, John Ridener.
He is survived by his brother, Merlin “Butch” (Dottye) Robinson of Jerseyville; uncle, Bill Williams, Sr. of Peoria; and cousin, the Rev. Bill (Beverly) Williams of Peoria.
Jesse was a U.S. Army veteran, enlisted from June 22, 1956 to April 20, 1959. He was a retired barge crewman, serving on both the Illinois and Mississippi rivers. He attended Laramie Street Baptist Church in Peoria.
Memorial services to celebrate Jesse’s life will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, in Peoria, with Pastor Jeremie Davis officiating.
Inurnment will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2010, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, with military honors provided by the Interveteran’s Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jesse’s memory to Laramie Street Baptist Church.
